Abstract
The use of fibre optics as the source of illumination for different types of museum exhibits has developed as a result of recent advances in fibre optic technology. The principles of fibre optics are described at a basic level, then specific museum applications are described. Among its present uses are illumination in historic houses and buildings, picture lighting manuscript cabinets, display cases and open exhibition. Diagrams.
