An inspection of over 600 historical sites in Brazil during the period 1974-1979 led to a study of the state of documents at 37 of the sites. Site conditions were reviewed along with agents causing deterioration, including insects (termites, beetles) and fungi. Preventive measures taken included the application of 1% dieldrin and 1% chlordane in ethyl alcohol to books. -- AATA
