Summary of spring study-tour of archives focuses upon the probable non-durability of microfilming as a preservation method and examines the alternatives. Paper prior to the 19th century was of better quality than currently used; the chemistry of various deterioration mech-anisms is explained. Specific measures for dealing with various factors causing deterioration are described. CCI's Environmental Norms are reprinted (see 19-54).
