Abstract
An account of the discovery and analysis of Lindow Man , a human body preserved in a peat bog in England. Carbon-14 dating of both the body and the peat yelded some discrepancies, but a burial date of ca. 300 bc is likely. The body was freeze-dried and treated with a 15% solution of peg 400. Forensic techniques were used to investigate the man's violent death. Photogrammetric studies aided the reconstruction of his physique. Almost no evidence of disease was found. The biological environment and the contents of the man's last meal were also analysed. The evidence is compared with findings from other bog bodies throughout the world and from mummies.
