Abstract
The success of museum building projects depends on the relationship between the museum staff and specialists brought in to carry out the project. The Ontario Science Center in Toronto illustrates some of the deleterious museological effects of lack of communication between project participants. Several other examples are discussed in which an architect's design was not in keeping with the overall purpose of a museum. The important thing for museum professionals to keep in mind is to communicate the needs of a museum to those in charge of designing the structure. The director of the National Air and Space Museum in Washington, DC apparently learned similar lessons regarding communication between museum professionals and construction specialists.
