Abstract
The author briefly sketches the historical development of museums of science and technology before dealing with the plans for a new museum in Berlin. The introductory section indicates the every museum sets itself tasks in accordance with man's understanding of himself and his technology at the time of its foundation. For the contemporary museum, interrelationships and interconnectedness are the dominant themes. Interrelationships of technology and nature, of various branches of technology, between technology and society all must be stressed. In addition, the historical developmental aspects of technology must be elucidated as a means to understand the present. Matters of placement, architecture, and public participation are also discussed in this article.
