Abstract
The study defines the main deterioration observed on soft molassic sandstone monuments in the Lausanne region. It then profiles the distribution of sulfur on North, South, East, and West exposures. A number of MEB microanalyses (S, Ca, Si, Al) complete these data and illustrate the classical pattern of evolution, that is to say, the progressive increase in sulfur content in sandstone at the expense of its calcitic cement.
