Abstract
The petrological study of sandstone deterioration of the temples at Karnak shows certain transformations of the original cements. The same study helps determine a succession of parageneses of organo-mineral and mineral accumulations, in which it is possible to estimate how much the soils or the building materials contributed to the degradations caused by the phreatic waters.
