Abstract
Technology of prehistoric pottery, in particular of neolithic stroked pottery and methods for studying its characteristics are discussed. The results of laboratory study of raw materials, of neolithic pottery (Mseno-site, CSSR), and of experimentally produced pottery are given. Properties of raw materials and pottery after firing studied using X-ray diffraction, thermogravimetry, differential thermal analysis, and dilatometry are given. Experimentally produced pottery is compared with that of neolithic Mseno-site pottery. The selected sequence of stages of pottery paste preparation, pot-building, surface treatment, drying, and firing, imitating the technology of pottery production at the site of Mseno, proved that it is possible to obtain final products identical with neolithic pottery vessels. -- AATA
