Tradition indicated that the church was built without a tower. However, during archeological investigations carried out in 1978 and in 1979, massive foundations of a tower were found; the construction of the foundations is described but apparently the tower had been razed because there were structural problems caused by the unsuitability of the soil. The church and tower had been constructed in 1705 of building materials that were already old at that time. -- AATA
