Abstract
Northumbria University has developed a Preventive Conservation MA that can be accessed either online or on campus, full time over one year or part time over two years. The distance learning program has a ‘blended format’ whereby the online teaching and learning materials are ‘blended’ with a work placed learning experience followed by a dissertation. The distance learning format provides a learning opportunity for students who do not have the option of attending a campus based program. The paper describes the program content and structure as well as the importance of inter-activity, digital animations voiceovers and audio visual recordings. It focuses on the development of online examination techniques and the integration of haptic sensory technology.
