Sociocultural aspects of clothing and textiles are discussed. A new method developed by GPF and Associates, Milan, called Monitor 3SC, is used to study social change and its effect on fashion and textiles by monitoring values, attitudes, and lifestyles. Their effect on behavior and communication is determined. The discussion is organized under such headings as: 1975-80: the rejection of fashion; 1980-85: the return of fashion; 1985-90: towards maturity of fashion; cellularization; personal expression; the diffusion of North-West values; polysensuality. -- AATA
