Unique geological conditions in the area of an excavation of Merovingian tombs led to special considerations in the preservation of the artifacts. The varying humidity of the soil was responsible for different decay phenomena, especially of all organic materials, such as wood. Another problem was the extreme deformation of the skeletons. These observations had to be considered for the documentation of the excavation. -- AATA
