Abstract
A description of scientific investigation and treatment of a group of 14 polychrome terracotta sculptures in the Chapel of Ansperto in S. Maria Presso S. Satiro, in Milan. After cleaning to recover the original paint and removal of cement repairs, salts were eliminated by washing the terracotta with doubly distilled water on cellulose compresses. Polyfilla materials were used for consolidation. The analyses performed on terracotta samples are described in detail. Notes on the polychromy of individual sculptures are included. References.
