The origins of metallurgy are studied through examination of ancient metal artifacts from Egypt, the Middle East, Europe, and India. The impurities present in the artifacts suggest the metallurgical processes used in the manufacture of the objects; slag analyses performed at the archaeological sites indicate the sources of the objects. -- AATA
