This paper involves the metallographic study of South Arabian specimens which came from the city known as Timna', the capital of the pre-Islamic Kingdom of Qataban in South Arabia. Probably all of the artifacts were made during the 100 years preceding the final destruction of Timna' by fire, an event which took place between 10 and 25 A.D. All of the metallic artifacts were obtained from controlled archeological excavations and apparently they all were from a single culture. These artifacts were examined metallographically and analyzed chemically by spectroscopy. In addition, certain artifacts were analyzed further by wet chemistry or electron microprobe analysis.
