Abstract
This paper describes the Man-In-Simulant Test (MIST) facility at the Textile Protection and Comfort Center (T-PACC) at North Carolina State University (NCSU). This new research facility provides unique capabilities for evaluating the ability of protective gear to resist infiltration of chemical vapor, using methyl salicylate (MeS) a non-toxic vapor simulant to represent warfare agents and toxic industrial chemicals. This capability increases domestic capacity to do research and testing to speed development of chemical and biological protective suits. It is the only research facility of its kind located at a university in the United States.
