A complex method for analysing silver art objects of XVIIth - XVIIIth cc. worked out by the author is described. The article presents a new method for identifying works by silversmiths of Yaroslavl based on the mark of a chaser's tool. This method helps not only to classify silver objects but to give a proper attribution as well. A practical reconstruction of technique and technology of silversmiths in XVIIth - XVIIIth cc. is demonstrated. The article also presents the analysis of the creative work of Afanasy Korytov one of the most famous silversmiths of XVIIIth c. The tools used by silversmiths in XVIIIth c. are described. The article is followed by the catalogue of silver art objects belonging to this period. Most of them have been reattributed. The data are published for the first time.
