The investigation and restoration of the picture A Seascape from the Livadian exhibition complex (Yalta) are described in the article. Technico-technological investigation and a stylistic analysis of the picture has helped to establish the authorship belonging to S. Shchedrin. According to this analysis as well as the archives and literary sources the seascape was identified with Shchedrin's picture A view in the vicinity of Naples which was considered lost. Thus for the first time it became possible to determine the period of its creation as well as to interpret the significance of the picture among the works of an outstanding Russian painter.
