Abstract
The author deals with a scientific activity of the restoration department (namely its two sections) of the State Tretyakov Gallery in the second half of the thirties. The main works of the leading specialists (A.A. Rybnikov and E.A. Dombrovskaya) reflecting contemporary level of scientific investigations which are still actual nowadays are analysed in the article.
