Abstract
The conservation of a well-preserved mummy portrait is described. One of the reasons for the good condition is the preserved cartonnage, which provided a buffer against changeable climatic conditions. Surface grime was softened with distilled water and carboxy methyl cellulose. Cleaning was done with a fine brush and a few drops of ammonium hydroxide and acetone under the microscope.
