Abstract
In-progress report on the restoration of two gates from two different levels explains the procedure of reconstruction and how this restored stonework differs from original standing structures. Excavations were undermining the foundations of the surviving walls; the threat of imminent collapse expedited restoration work. Fill in the trenches clearly indicates 20th-century working of the site. Old photodocumentation of the tower has enabled the workers to place each stone in its original position.
