A cluster analysis was developed to determine the existence of geometrical types of pottery in a sample. K-means cluster analysis techniques were used where the clusters were determined with three sets of suitably defined variables. Of the three methods described, the third one was found to yield a sharper discrimination than the other two. This is illustrated with the Almeria Culture sample of Purchena. This method could have a general applicability in a variety of samples of diverse morphological features.
