Abstract
This short clipping describes the community of Goslar's prosperity due to mining silver from the Rammelsberg mines. The local mining and metallurgical industry reached its zenith in the 16th century, but even today the Rammelsberg still produces about a fifth of West Germany's lead as well as 24 tons of silver each year.
