Abstract
The paper described the examination of a group of icon boards. This study yielded information concerning their origin, ancient crafts employed, glues used and the preferred construction methods. Gradual changes in technology and preparation method have been detected. In the 5th century each painter prepared his own icon boards. Later, boards were cut and prepared by specialists. -- AATA
