Abstract
Some of the advantages and disadvantages of instrumental neutron activation analysis (INAA) with a low neutron flux (SLOWPOKE) reactor are outlined. The determinable number of elements and the accuracy and precision of analytical measurements are discussed as is the negative correlation, in pottery, of calcium with all the other elements present. Analyses are given for obsidian (Tazumal, El Salvador) and chert (Cumberland River Valley, Kentucky) and comparisons are made with analyses by other laboratories.
