Abstract
This paper discusses those inorganic pigments which have been confirmed or assumed to have been used on the Shoso-in objects by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and X-ray fluoreacence analysis (XRF). By applying these X-ray analyses, some new information concerning pigments, especially about white pigments, have been obtained. The results thus found are useful in the study of the history of ancient Japanese pigments.
