In the last few years the demand for photographic conservation has been recognized as a very pressing priority, and although a number of groups and individuals have emerged in this specialty, the bulk of records suggest that existing conservation fields could assist. To this end I propose to discuss existing paper conservation techniques which are applicable to photographic records. The treatments to be examined are based upon albumen prints, although these treatments are generally compatible with other processes.
