Abstract
A method for the restoration of wood, published by the author in 1954, has been successfully applied to some highly mineralized excavated wooden objects of the 6th-4th centuries B.C. The method is based on treatment with a dilute glue solution, which is then insolubilized with tannic acid. Photographs show the various stages of treatment of a wooden statue.
