Abstract
The origin and development scientific conservation in Russia focuses upon restoration problems and the involvement of public scientific institutions (i.e. , the Moscow Archaeological Society, the petersburg Archaeological Commission, the Society of Monument Protection in Petersburg, and the All-Russian Meetings of Artists). Disagreement on the main restoration problems and the diversity of methods are presented.
