An article on the restoration (1986) of wooden structures in Palazzo Vecchio, Florence (Italy). Describes the technology used to construct the wooden floor-structure of the Sala dei Gigli and Sala delle Udienze in 1472. A particularly effective system for the crosswise connection of the main beams was used. Deterioration of the materials and stress on the members required specialized consolidation using resined microgrids and mechanical forcing of the main beams. The materials used were: hardwood, Fe430 steel, Araldite CIBA Hy epoxy resin, Degussa thixotropics and plant-based filler.
