Abstract
An article on the restoration of the Sala delle stilate (colonnades), part of the ancient abbey of Pomposa (Italy) situated on the ground floor of a building deemed to be coeval with the campanile. The wooden columns on stone plinths, hold up a primary system of beams and a secondary one of joists and planks, all of a species of oakwood. Insect attack and, above all, the installation of the Pomposa museum in the floor above has led to the construction of a concrete floor on iron beams, thus removing the load-bearing function of the room of the colonnades.
