Abstract
Only a few small fragments were available for examination. The plaster support is nearly pure lime plaster without sand or other temper. The paint seems to have been applied in an aqueous medium to a dry wall. The palette was limited. The blue pigment was identified as Mayan blue (a natural clay pigment used apparently only by the ancient Maya peoples); red and pink as haematite; dull yellow as limonite; dark brown as carbonaceous material; black as carbon black. Unfortunately none of the green shown in the color reproductions was available for analysis. -- AATA
