During the 18th century wood models representing theoretical fortification system for European cities were widely disseminated, but only a few of them have come down to us. Hence the importancce of the recent recovery of the model collection of the Bologna Sciences Institute. The article describes restoration of the models: in some cases lacunas were left, while others were rebuilt. For the models of the systems of the great French military engineer and city planner, Vauban, the authors poropose a point by point study of the planimetries and of the profiles and a preliminary catalogue of both these and the models of attacks on the strongholds.
