Abstract
Describes the restoration of one of the finest Italianate villa-styled brick and brownstone townhouses in the US. The major problems were: leaking roof and non-functioning gutters; deteriorating stonework; decay of the wooden cornices, porches and other wooden trim on the mansion and carriage house; loss of adhesion of the mastic or simulated stonework used on several exterior walls of the mansion and carriage house; and, some general deterioration of the interior decorative painting.
