Abstract
This article is concerned with the deterioration of textile materials caused by microorganisms such as fungi and bacteria. Natural and manmade fibers are considered along with plastics, leather, and rubber. The use of biocides as a means of preventing or minimizing the effects of these microorganisms is also discussed.
