Abstract
The Smithsonian Archives did testing as part of their consideration of changing from standard Hollinger boxes to new foil-covered Hollinger boxes. Although the foil-covered boxes had superior resistance in fire situations, they were considerably inferior to the standard box in water resistance over long periods. If water is used in a fire-extinguishing situation, however, and the water and boxes are removed quickly, the foil boxes still serve their purpose.
