The damages to wood and the different types of deterioration to which joinery is subject are explained, along with causes and specific restoration techniques. Special chapters are devoted to laying veneer, boule marquetry, gilding and painted repairs. Some instruction is given in problems of accessory hardware, such as bronzes.
