Abstract
A precise examination of the onject surface gives us a basic information for the conservation of cultural property, because the surface is closely related to the environment in which the object has been stored. In this paper the author introduced an application of Auger Electron Microscopy (AES) to the surface analysis of archaeological metal artifacts recently excavated in Japan. He concludes AES becomes an effective method in conservation science.
