Describes the 1969 barrier reef expedition of the Academy of Natural Sciences of Philadelphia as a dual-venture: searching for the cannons and other durable articles jettisoned from the <i>Endeavour by Captain James Cook in 1770 off Queensland, Australia, and in collecting reef dwelling fish for scientific study. Cannons as well as several tons of iron and stone ballast were retrieved and then restored. The reef fish collection was also completed. -- AATA
