Abstract
Removal of several layers of overpaint on two life-size wooden sculptures of SS. John Nepomucensis and Wenceslaus from St. Havel's church in Mladá Boleslav reveals two types of original surfaces, one polychrome and the other a polished white with gold portions. Also the fact that one of these statues carved by the brothers Jelinek in 1725-35 is carved in a style more appropriate for stone sculpture supports the likelihood that they came from two different ensembles.
