Abstract
Copper artifacts from ca 1000 B.C. To the 17th century A.D. Were examined visually, by x-radiography, by x-ray fluorescence and by taking metallographic cross-sections. Working native copper by folding and annealing is shown to be widespread both temporally and geographically in the North American arctic.
