(The first author is with the Mellon Inst., Pittsburgh, Pa.) Neutron activation analyses of lapis lazuli, Italian renaissance bronze objects, and various samples of terracotta statuary are described. The limited utility of this method for purposes of identification of these materials is described. A simple procedure for determining 14C content of cellulosic materials is described that can be used to detect man-made additions since the 1950s. The application of Moessbauer spectrometry to analyze problems of the fine arts is introduced, and the potentialities of the method are explored. A brief summary of general conclusions reached regarding the use of various nuclear methods explored during the 4-year -- AATA
