Abstract
The morphology of 70 Wealden cylindrical shaft furnaces, 58 from Broadfield and 12 from Holbeanwood, has been studied. Radiocarbon dates are given for some. Five main types can be distinguished: these are described and sketched. This classification suggests chronological development with respect to increased yield and reduced manning requirements. -- AATA
