Abstract
The characteristics and technical properties of <i>Swietenia macrophylla from Brazil are described. Strength data are tabulated for this species (samples from Brazil and Belize), and also for <i>Khaya ivorensis, Entandrophragma utile and <i>Fagus sylvatica. The technical performance of S. macrophylla closely resembled that of K. ivorensis. -- AATA
