Abstract
The soiling behavior of textiles composed of manmade fibers differs from that of cotton. The affinity of polyester fibers for fats and greases, the significance of this property in washing, and the possibilities of improving the removal of fats and greases from these fibers are discussed. The use of finishing agents to prevent the build-up of electrostatic charges in the use of synthetic textiles, and the effects obtained, are described. Methods of improving the washing effect of detergents applied at low temperatures to easy care textiles are recommended, and the effects of unsuitable conditions on the results obtained are indicated. -- AATA
