Abstract
In south-westem Ethiopia bloomery iron is produced from limonite and magnetite. The ground ore is melted with charcoal in furnaces of clay, which rise about one meter above the ground. A system of thirty-six blowpipes provides the necessary air. From this iron, a smith makes tools and weapons. See 17-1622. -- AATA
