Abstract
In the northwestern corner of Spain, seven regions of intense gold mining from the Roman pen-od can be distinguished. Different techniques of obtaining the gold were used, like gold washing in rivers, the rinsing of large horizontal areas, and other mining techniques in hard rocks. Gold mining in this region began about 6 B. C. and lasted until the 2nd half of the 3rd century A.D. The archaeological evidence of the remains of Roman gold mining in north western Spain corresponds to descriptions of mining techniques by authors in antiquity. -- AATA
