The results of the specific gravity analysis of almost 350 Fatimid gold coins (mostly in the British Museum) are reported and the fluctuations in fineness described. Some of the debased coins are thus identified as Crusader imitations, and in other cases the slight changes in fineness can be related to changes in the legend on the coin. -- AATA
