Abstract
A brief analysis of the aesthetic, social, and psychological functions of color in architecture is followed by an outline of the problems encountered in its conservation and restoration, with particular reference to Slovenia. These include reconstruction and color changes in different materials and plasters. The author stresses the need for interdisciplinary research in facade restoration.
